Iain Fraser  is no stranger to the Amateur Stage having played in over seventy musicals, as well as several pantomimes and plays.  He made his King’s debut many years ago with Glasgow Gang Show.   His love of dance has given him the opportunity to play many and varied roles including Will Parker (Oklahoma), Francis Fryer (Calamity Jane), Harold Hill (The Music Man), Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady),  MC (Cabaret), Honore (Gigi), and the title role in Hans Andersen.  His favourite role to date, is Tony in West Side Story.

He is also a talented Director and Choreographer and has staged shows for many societies including Theatre Guild and the Minerva Club – some of which are Guys and Dolls, The Wizard of Oz, Half a Sixpence, Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes, Chess, The Music Man, Mame and most recently, the Scottish premiere of the Broadway Revival of  Annie Get Your Gun.  In April 2004, he directed Annie for The Millennium Stage School.

As well as the  odd “extra” in Television, Iain’s film credits include the Art Teacher in Bill Forsyth’s Gregory’s 2 Girls, and Afterlife with Kevin McKidd and Lynsey Henderson in which he plays a journalist.

Iain has also collaborated in the writing of musicals and has performed, directed and choreographed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  He is always keen to widen his experience and performed in Les Miserables  Masterclass at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End.

He joined the Lyric Club in 2000 and has played Bela Zangler (Crazy for You), Bert Barry (42nd Street) for us. In 2002, he choreographed our highly acclaimed Singin’ in the Rain, and also played Roscoe Dexter, and later in the year, he played both Bert Healy and Senator Francis Perkins in Annie.    In 2003 – with the aid of some padding – he thoroughly enjoyed playing Fatty Arbuckle in Mack and Mabel, and in 2004, recreated the roles of Bert Healy and Senator Perkins in our revival of Annie.  He played Charles the Butler in the 2005 production of Me and My Girl.

Recent credits include the leading role of Sir George Elphinstone in Johnnie Jouk the Gibbet with EPT at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and he is currently playing Captain Alberto Bertorelli in Caring City Production’s Allo Allo at the Crawfurd Theatre, Jordanhill College and also directing and choreographing South Pacific for Callander Amateur Operatic Society.
